'Yoga directs the application of its principles both to every moment in daily life as well as towards the knowledge of life's own essence.

Yoga invites one to manifest one's life & personal development, researching & deepening the study of every single situation, giving value to all experiences in this world.'

Dr Masahiro Oki

  • The Oki-do Yoga Life Training Course being offered in Brisbane in 2008 is a comprehensive and integrated one-year training in yoga and related disciplines.

The course is experiential in nature and is designed to train and support people wishing to teach and share yoga principles and practices as well as to enhance participant’s overall quality of life. It is structured to fit in with normal work, household and family commitments.

To live life to the fullest, in harmonious co-operation with people and nature, is the character of Oki-do Yoga. Oki-do is a union of many disciplines including Indian Yoga, Chinese Taoism, Oriental Medicine and Japanese Zen. It encourages a wide range of experiences to awaken an individual’s ability to live a happy, healthy and contributive life. Oki-do is the study and practice of yoga in daily life through asana, Oki-do movement, breathing, diet, healing, philosophy and meditation.

Starting the journey of yoga begins with cultivating the harmony of the body and of the mind & heart. Oki-do directs its training in a step by step way towards this human education and evolution. Oki-do is a key to understanding yoga in a deep and wide way.

Body: Oki-do utilises specific methods of purification, breath, correction and asana – having as a central point to stimulate the vital energy (ki). A core aspect of this training is the development of hara. Oki-do guides people in health education, and invites people to discover and reach their best personal physical condition, stability and development of sensitivity.

Mind-Heart: A stronger, more flexible physical body creates the foundation for enhanced mental and emotional stability and the capacity for meditation. Mind-Heart training purifies, balances and evolves the inner essence by consciously creating balance at the level of attitude. With mind-heart practices it’s possible to positively influence physiological equilibrium and create a stable condition.

Oki-do Yoga is inspired by the life and teachings of Dr Masahiro Oki (1919-85). Oki-do Yoga practices show the path to the inner source of calm that exists in the heart of each of us. The basic principle of Oki-do is “Life is God”. God is in ourselves and Oki-do’s teaching is to act for the good of Life. Since Life is in all of us, it’s precisely in ourselves that we can find the Truth, the answer to our questions.

The course is for people who have a good foundation in yoga, ideally having practiced on a regular basis for at least one year. It’s for people wishing to teach or share yoga as well as for those wishing to deepen and explore their experience of life using yoga as the method of research.

The course offers participants a clear sense of purpose and direction through the experience of teaching and learning with others. Through an expansion of vitality and with a willingness to meet challenges and opportunities, the training helps in the discovery of a more fulfilling and productive life. The training aims to teach safe and effective yoga practices and principles that allow for more health, happiness and self-expression.

Is the Yoga Life Training Course Enjoyable?

    Yes….and No.

To shift from an older pattern to the new is not always comfortable but the result is a dramatic growth of adaptability. Realising you are the source of aliveness, aliveness comes. To feel yourself strong, flexible and light – the result is enjoyable
